Legal to Kill in Florida

Another notch for our Kill-A-Cyclist-With-Impunity Department…

The Pensacola News Journal proclaims the dire consequences for killing another human being:

License suspended for man in cross-country cyclist’s death.

So, all you drivers out there, make sure you pay attention when driving. You wouldn’t want to accidentally kill someone and <gasp>lose your license for six months!<gasp>

Particularly galling: the killing happened right in front of the victims’ wife. She was following behind him in a car when the perpetrator came around her to hit her husband.

Killer of Three Does Not Go to Jail

This just in from the kill-a-cyclist-with-impunity department:

Killing someone in New Zealand is apparently not enough to warrant jail time. 24-year old Kristy King lost control of her car while passing a group of 10 cyclists, and struck them. Three of them died from the collision. The justice system decided that she should have 300 hours of community service and pay restitution of $22,000.

The victims families did not press for jail time and some even hugged her.
